One of the biggest misconceptions in the nail industry is that long nails need the strongest product and short nails can wear anything.  

The reality? Choosing the right product isn't about nail length alone. It's about understanding your client's natural nails, their lifestyle, their goals and how each product is designed to perform. 

Think of it like choosing the right pair of shoes. You wouldn't wear flip flops to climb a mountain, and you wouldn't wear hiking boots to the beach. Every shoe has a purpose, and every nail product does too. 

Let's break it down. 

Start with the Client, Not the Product

Before reaching into your nail kit, ask yourself a few simple questions. 

  • What is their natural nail like?  
  • How long do they want their nails?  
  • Are they hoping to grow their natural nails?  
  • Do they work with their hands all day?  
  • Do they need nail repairs or nail extensions?  
  • Have they worn nail enhancements before?  

Once you know the answers, choosing the right system becomes much easier. 

Clients with Short Natural Nails

If your client loves keeping their nails short and simply wants a glossy manicure that lasts, gel polish could be all they need. A gel polish manicure provides beautiful colour and shine, but it isn't designed to add significant strength or structure.

Longer nails don't always need a stronger product; they need the correct structure and the right product for that individual client.
