Curing Isn’t About How Much Power a Nail Lamp Uses

It’s long been thought that higher wattage means better curing, and while big numbers can feel reassuring, they don’t tell the full story. UV energy at the correct wavelength is what triggers polymerisation in gel. The TGB Illuminate Lamp uses dual-wavelength 365–405nm LEDs and precisely controlled energy delivery to produce the same professional curing performance validated across TGB systems, while operating within regulated ~23W electrical architecture.  

While previous guidelines were to cure with a 48W lamp for TGB systems, curing performance has not changed with our upgraded Illuminate lamp. We are simply now describing lamp performance using more precise, science-led parameters rather than headline wattage alone. 

Wattage tells you how much electrical power a lamp consumes. It doesn’t tell you how much usable UV reaches the nail, how evenly light is delivered or how output changes with use. Two lamps can claim the same wattage and cure very differently. To understand curing performance, testing looks at: UV wavelength accuracy, light reaching the nail surface and output stability over repeated use. Fast curing on day one doesn’t guarantee reliable results long-term. Professional curing depends on controlled, stable UV delivery across hundreds of services.
